Expect a "one-of-a-kind" Saturday night at the movies as Chatham's only cinema is gearing up for the introduction of IMAX technology, Future Chatham has found. Received by Medway Council on Tuesday, 11 June, a planning application submitted by Odeon Cinemas Ltd is seeking consent for the installation of an "illuminated fascia sign with built-up 'IMAX' letters". Being one of only two cinemas serving the Medway Towns, with just a Cineworld located at Medway Valley Leisure Park in Rochester, the Odeon cinema at Chatham Dockside consists of 9 screens, showing both 2D and 3D films for all ages. The latest major upgrade to the multiplex was around 2014 with the opening of an on-site Costa Coffee store.
