Ellandi and ProjectDirt, in association with local newspaper Medway Messenger, have collaborated to launch The Pentagon Community Fund this month. The Pentagon Community Fund will offer up to £2,000 to community projects and social enterprises that have a positive social and/or environmental impact, and which are located in the local area of Chatham. The initiative unlocks the potential for the local community to access funds and achieve their goals. There is a total fund of £15,000 available, with each winning project being awarded an allocated sum of £2,000. It is hoped that the funding will kick start local community projects that can improve the neighbourhood. To take part in this fantastic opportunity, all applications need to be submitted during the period running from February 14th until midnight on March 12th.
ProjectDirt is a network connecting, promoting and resourcing active grassroots community projects across the UK. For further information about the funding scheme or to submit an application, please visit the designated page on their website. A road closure will be in place at Chatham Hill (Gillingham-bound) from the junction with the New Road roundabout between February 16 and 17. This will enable a team from Network Rail to carry out a detailed examination of the bridge structure which runs overhead the carriageway. Although no information has been published online regarding a diversion route, a signed route is expected to be in enforced in order to navigate motorists. A road closure will be in place along Magpie Hall Road, Chatham, on February 26 for one day between 7am and 7pm. Highway teams will be resurfacing the carriageway on the approach to the zebra crossing near the junction with Portland Street. During these works, the road will be closed to all traffic and parking along the affected areas will be restricted. Access to residential properties from the main road will be restricted and affected residents will have to use alternative local roads. The resurfacing plan provided by Medway Council can be viewed below, with the yellow highlighted areas showing which section of the road is to be resurfaced.
