The Free Parking Fridays scheme is set to once again this year, following the positive outcome of last year's trial. Visitors will be able to park in the Brook multi-storey car park in Chatham town centre for free over a six-week period — no coins, no worries! The scheme is being provided by Medway Council, in partnership with the Chatham Town Centre Forum. Visitors will be able to get into the heart of Chatham and shop at their leisure without worrying for paying on the following dates:
> 29 July > 5 August > 12 August > 19 August > 26 August > 2 September Forum chairman Patricia Matthewman said: “This has come about as a result of residents, retailers and business owners being positive and constructive and asking what can we do to change things and working with the council to do that. It’s just one of many initiatives that we are quite proud of.” The scheme is designed to attract more shoppers into the town centre since retailers and locals expressed concerns surrounding a decline in the number of visitors in recent years. |
