- Medway Council and The Crown Estates are working in collaboration to facilitate the development of a marina at Gun Wharf. The scheme includes the potential accomodation of up to 195 berths for annual and visiting vessels wishing to explore the River Medway and the Medway Towns, boasting full tidal access in a unique and very favourable location. Also, the former RAFA building nearby will be brought back into use following extensive refurbishment works. The delivery of the marina will activate the river front and increase connectivity to the River, and the Council hopes that it will attract further regeneration by adding to Chatham's marketability as an attractive investment opportunity. At the time of writing, the Council and The Crown Estates are currently liaising with Peel Ports to secure their approval in principle to continue with a marina development in this area. It is in the very early stages and specific timescales are not yet available.
